Tupelo - ELBERT OWEN SHEFFIELD, 64, died Thursday, November 29, 2007, at his residence after a brief illness. A Marked Tree, Ark. native, he was born November 14, 1943 to the late Edgar Owen and Anis Lorene Long Sheffield. He was a long time Tupelo resident and was a retired truck driver. He loved being around his friends and watching football and horse races.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Frank Cayson officiating. Burial will be in Plantersville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Kathy Sheffield of Tupelo; a son, Troy Sheffield; one aunt Dru Merrills of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Collins and husband, Herbert, of Shannon, and Becky Anthony and husband, Terry, of Tupelo; two brothers-in-law, Linville Walls and wife, Tammy, of New Albany, and Rusty Busby and wife, Tamie, of Plantersville; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Tod Michael Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be Steve Parker, Rob Cousar, Jim Rice, Drew Miller, Roy Timms, and Sidney Cashion.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Bishop, Andy Wood and Bill Nunnelee.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
