ELBERT D. POTTS
TupeloElbert D. Potts, 80, died suddenly Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. An Alcorn County native, he was born December 9, 1924. He was a member of the East Main Street Church of Christ. He retired from the Navy after twenty years as a Fire Technician First Class, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He also retired from the United States Postal Service after twenty years.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors with the Bro. Gary Williams and Bro. Darrell Beard officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Grace Bishop Potts of Tupelo; three daughters, Patricia Scott and Debbie Cook of Dalton, Georgia, and Judy Jones of Saltillo; three sons, David and William Potts of Tupelo, and Scotty Scruggs of Guntown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Avon Potts, Lawrence Potts, and Grady Potts.
Pallbearers will be Bill Martin, Perry Hand, Larry Presley, Charles Barber, Jeff Scruggs, and Willie Rushing.
