Mooreville - Elaine Mize Pope, 83, died Monday, May 16, 2011, at her daughters residence after an extended illness. She was born October 20, 1927, in Pontotoc to John and Addie Mize. She was retired from Cedars Health Care where she worked as a nurse's aid. She enjoyed reading, listening to Gospel music, working in her yard and growing flowers, and watching humming birds. She loved her family who remembers her keen sense of humor and wonderful homecooked meals. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Ryan Louvvorn and Dr. Martin Jameson officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park

Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Long (Buddy) of Mooreville, Shirley Hall of Tupelo, Betsy Dunn (Danny) of Nettleton; one son, Charley Gregory (Laura) of Pontotoc; her step-son, Forrest Pope Jr. of Calhoun City; eight grandchildren, Mark Long (Kaye) of Mooreville, Kevin Long (Shannon) of Mooreville, Greg Bishop (Kathy) of Nettleton, Corey Bishop (Heather) of Mooreville, Jeanna Witt (Steven) of Tupelo, Clarissa McCain (Colee) of Tupelo, Christopher Whittle of Camp Lejeune, N.C., Kristie O'Briant (Paul) of Calhoun, La.; 13 great-grandchildren, Tyler Long, Andrew Long, Analyse Long, Sarah Long, Jacob Long, Logan Bishop, Michael Bishop, Noah Bishop, Chase Bishop, Hayden Bishop, Addie Grace Witt, Jordan O'Briant and Cooper O'Briant; and two sisters, Delavenia Haley of Pontotoc and Katherine Sisk of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Gregory and her second husband, Forrest Pope, Sr.; an infant son; and her brother, Thomas Mize.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Mark Long, Kevin Long, Corey Bishop, Greg Bishop, Tyler Long, Christopher Whittle, Andrew Long, Jacob Long and Logan Bishop

Honorary Pallbearers will be Steven Witt, Colee McCain, Chase Bishop, Noah Bishop and Michael Bishop.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
