ELAINE SULLIVAN COBB

Tupelo - Elaine Sullivan Cobb, 87, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Pontotoc native and the descendant of two prominent pioneer families, she was born Feb. 18, 1919, to the late James A. and Corrie Lee Cornwell Sullivan. She was a graduate of Oxford Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated with a degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse working in both Mississippi and Tennessee. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church, where she served in the church nursery for 38 years.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet Coleman of Pensacola, Fla.; two granddaughters, Julie Coleman of Pensacola and Heather Hixon of Jackson; two great-grandsons, Garner and Gatlin Hixon of Jackson; one sister, Dorothy Antley of Mount Dora, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; five special caregivers, Kay Edge, Sandra Bolden, Polly Hall, Dorothy Stewart and Gloria Haynes.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Nathan Cobb; one son, Nicholas Cobb; and one granddaughter, Jan Belinda Coleman.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
