Eileen McKissack

April 28, 1917 — May 14, 2008

Tupelo - Eileen Clara Mckissack, 91, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Coldfield, Tenn. native, she was born April 28, 1917 to the late Albert and Martha Butler. Earlier in her life she worked as a nurses assistant in a nursing home in Birmingham, Ala., and also in the Navy yard in Washington, D.C. She married Warren Daughtery in 1944. She moved to Tupelo in 1958 and married Tommy McKissack at that time. She worked in the First United Methodist Church nursery for 6 years. She enjoyed Gospel and country music and loved nature and her grandchildren. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tupelo and taught her family to love the Lord as she did.

Memorial Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Prather officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra McGuire of Tupelo; two sisters, Ora Mae Gaskin of Marrietta, Ga. and Louise Moreland of Tupelo; one brother, Albert Clarence Butler, Jr. and wife, Hazel, of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Angela McGuire of Hattisburg; one grandson, Michael McGuire and wife, Lillian, of Mobile, Ala.; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Warren Daugherty, and her second husband, George Thomas McKissack.

Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to service time at the Chapel of the church
