GENE WITT
Tupelo - Edward S. "Gene" Witt, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Sherman native, he was born March 28, 1915, to the late John Anderson and Cordelia Stroud Witt. He was a member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite 32nd degree and a Shriner.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Tupelo Memorial Park with the Rev. Tony Cooper officiating. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ezelle Witt; three daughters, Jane Ledford and husband, Clarence of Parson, Tenn., Sandra Witt of Mantachie and Ann Giompoletti and husband, Robert of Madison; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Frances Witt; and two brothers, Jack and Leon Witt.
Pallbearers will be Clarence Ledford, Robert and Bryce Giompoletti, Tim Weaver, Steve Baudo and Grant McCaleb.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
