TUPELOE.B. "Ed McNeil, 84, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at his home. He was born January 30, 1921 in Magee, MS to the late Hugh A. McNeil and Nannie Calhoun McNeil. He was a retired employee of South Central Bell Telephone Company. A WWII army veteran, he served in France with the Tenth Armored Division under George S. Patton, faught at the Battle of the Bulge, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He enjoyed spending time with his Hardees coffee drinkers. He was a member of Bissell Baptist Church and 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Services will be at 1 pm Friday at Bissell Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Wren officiating. Burial will be at Tupelo Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Houston McNeil; daughter Cheryl McNeil Moore of Jackson, MS; one son, Hugh E. McNeil and wife, Germaine Filgo McNeil, of Madison, AL; one sister, Nannie Lou Harrison of Baton Rouge, LA; four grandchildren, Casey Moore of Jackson, MS, Jason McNeil of Baton Rouge, LA, Brian McNeil of Mississippi State University, and Allison McNeil of Auburn University.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Edwin McNeil, his brother, Kenneth McNeil, and sister, Mattie C. Robinson.
Pallbearers will be Jim Carter, Fred Comer, George Spurgeon, Casey Moore, Jason McNeil and Brian McNeil. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bissell Baptist Church Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues.
