Tupelo - Edith Jewel Hellums, 92, died Friday, June 13, 2008, at her residence after a brief illness. A Randolph native, she was born June 17, 1915 to Henry Thomas and Etta Pearl Kelly Miller. She worked for Dean Industries in Pontotoc for several years. She enjoyed watching Tiger Woods play golf, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Her family will remember her as a strong and independant woman who loved them dearly. She was a member of Carey Springs Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Carey Springs Cemetery in Randolph. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Bishop and husband, Ed, of Tupelo; her granddaughter, Debbie Beasley and fiance, Gary Hall; three great-grandchildren, Zach Beasley and wife, Rachel, Casey Beasley and wife, Amanda, and Jenni Beasley (Miller Vance) all of Tupelo; two great-great-grandchildren, Sydney Hill and Colby Beasley; her nephew Gary N. Miller and wife, Marsha, of Van Cleve.
She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband Braze Crowson and her second husband, Doyle Hellums whom she married after Braze Crowson's death; and four brothers, John Wiley Miller, Ernest L. Miller, James H. Miller and Shelton L. Miller.
Pallbearers will be Zach Beasley, Casey Beasley, Miller Vance, Gary Miller, Gary Hall, and Mike Moore.
Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery
