EDNA SIDES Belden - Edna Heavener Sides, 81, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 17, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born on November 29, 1933, to Leroy and Hazel Marie Wood Heavener. A graduate of Baldwyn High School, she then went on to attend Northeast Community College. Edna played basketball in high school and was coached by the legendary Babe McCarthy of Mississippi State University. She was a longtime and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. Edna was active in her church, and community and loved gardening, her mission work and working with the Shepherd Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Jim Yates and officiating and music by Rev. Doug Spires. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Kermit Sides of Belden; one daughter, Connie Dutt (Scott, Sr.) of Belden; one sister, Juanita Heavener of Baldwyn; one brother, Rondy Heavener of Baldwyn; one daughter-in-law, Gale Sides of Blue Springs; two grandchildren, Scott Dutt, Jr. of Germantown, TN and Trevor Sides of Starkville. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Timothy Franklin Sides. Pallbearers will be Henry Lamb, Lewis Touchstone, Lanier Dunnam, George Heavener, Trevor Sides and Scott Dutt, Jr. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House, PO Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.
