EDNA DEPEW Tupelo - Edna Depew, 87, of Tupelo died peacefully on March 29, 2014 at Sanctuary Hospice house after an extended illness. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April, 6, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo with memorial service, officiated by Rev. Dr. Tom Groome and Rev. Dr. Ron Richardson, immediately following. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. Edna was born on November 27, 1926, in Kansas City, Missouri to James Edward and Mary Ethel Roberts Clark. On July 26, 1947, she married George Earl Depew in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They made their home in the Kansas City area and relocated to Branson, Missouri following George's retirement. Edna was her children's biggest fan. She especially enjoyed watching them perform in various scouting, sporting, dance and musical events. She was known for her love of books, bird watching, delicious home cooking, her kind, caring nature, and her unwavering recall of birthdays and special occasions that always resulted in a card. "Grandma" was always glad to read a book, play a game, and give loving attention to her grandchildren. In 2005, Edna relocated to Tupelo to live with her son Steve Depew. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo where she found much love and spiritual support. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, George Depew; her daughter Marla Ann Smithers; her parents, James and Mary Roberts Clark; three sisters, Marie Phillips, Dorothy Young, Helen Shafer; and infant brother, Charles Clark. A life well lived will be celebrated and forever cherished by four sons, Butch (Pam) Depew, of Hernando, Florida; Randy (Laresa) Depew of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, Perry (Brenda) Depew of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Steve (Becki) Depew of Tupelo, Mississippi; one son-in-law, Mike Smithers, Independence, Missouri ; one sister, Betty Rynish, Independence, Missouri; as well as 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
