Eddie Scott Medlock

EDDIE MEDLOCK, SR.


Saltillo - Eddie Scott Medlock Sr., 62, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 29, 1944, in Dyersburg, Tenn., to Milton Scott Medlock and Martha June Rawles Medlock. He graduated from Mississippi College with a B.S. degree in education and from Mississippi State University with a master's degree in industrial education. He retired from the Saltillo School System, where he taught for 38 years. He was a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church in Tupelo, where he taught Sunday school. He loved his family, playing with his grandchildren, hunting and fishing.


Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the West Jackson Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Bert Harper officiating and the Rev. Tim Green assisting. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.


Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Vera Anne Medlock of Saltillo; one daughter, Melanie Anne Medlock of Memphis; one son, Eddie Scott Medlock Jr. (Karen) of Saltillo; one sister, Gin Brown (Kurt) of Millington, Tenn.; one brother, David Milton Medlock (Hope) of Cordova, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Drew and Logan of the home.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Ed Rawles and Virginia Rawles Scott; and his stepgrandfather, Ed Scott and an infant son.


Pallbearers will be Dean Brock, Dale Brock, Sonny Phillips, Jerry Rowe, Robert Magers and Johnny Bolen.


Honorary pallbearers will be his Sunday school class at the West Jackson Street Baptist Church.


Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 405 Fontaine Place, Suite 103, Richland, MS 39157; the West Jackson Street Baptist Church Building Fund in Tupelo; or TCPS Building Fund in Tupelo.
