Eddie Coker
TUPELO " Edward Eugene Eddie Coker, 56, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at his mothers residence in Tupelo after a lengthy illness. He was born June 6, 1951, in Baldwyn and was raised in the Birmingham Ridge community. He also lived in Shannon. He was a painter and carpenter in the home construction industry and a member of Egypt Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Earlier in life he was active in Scouting, serving as a Boy Scout leader and a Little League baseball coach. He had served on a mission trip to Belize. His wife and the mother of his children, Kay Coker, preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 1994.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Doty Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Jeffries and the Rev. William E. Mason officiating. Burial will be in Doty Chapel Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Michele Mason (Lindsey) of Springfield, Ohio, Melody Davis (Joey) of Shannon and Monica Harbor (Jason) of Tupelo; two sons, Michael Coker (Melissa) of Mantachie and Mark Coker of Tupelo; his mother, Dewdrop Emison of Tupelo; his father and stepmother, Melvin and Dale Coker of Shannon; three sisters, Gay Pearson and Kay Presley of Shannon, and Pam Russell of Tupelo; four brothers, James Coker, Wayne Emison and Barry Emison, all of Tupelo, and Kevin Coker of Shannon; 12 grandchildren, Daniel and Brennon Mason, both of Springfield, Ohio, Allen Davis, Tori Tidwell, Paige Davis, Kayleigh Davis and Joshua Davis, all of Shannon, Courtney Harbor, Kirsten Harbor and Tiffney Harbor, all of Tupelo, Taylor and Bailey Coker, both of Mantachie; two great-grandchildren, Jadelynn and Releena Earnest.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and his grandparents, Noonan and Inez Lee, and Bud and Aileen Coker.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Long, Gerald Farmer, Elgin House, Freddie Russell, Bobby Stafford, Jimmy Langley, Tim Morgan and Sammy Emison.
Honorary pallbearers will be his uncles, Paul, Dean, and Alvis Coker and Douglas Lee.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
