OKOLONA--On December 20, 2017, after a lengthy battle with melanoma, Ed left this life to begin his eternal life in heaven with his Lord Jesus.



Born October 28, 1951 in Houston, Miss. to Elliot “Bud” Brassfield, Jr., and Irene Woodall Brasfield Earnest. Ed lived and worked in Okolona most of his life, working at Futorian and Fortune Furniture in Okolona and Lane Furniture in Verona.



Ed loved Jesus with all his heart and served him daily since April of 1968. He was a member of the Okolona Zion Assembly Church of God.



Besides working, Ed loved piddling in the yard and mostly helping others, especially caring for his beloved Aunt Bobbie Woodall. He loved doing anything he could to help someone. He loved God’s word, reading and studying end time prophecy, the preaching of the Word, worship, and listening to gospel music. Ed loved and adored his grandchildren, Erin and Avery.



Ed is survived by his wife and love of his life, Betty Kay Smith Brasfield; daughter, Dorinda Lambert and husband, Greg Lambert; granddaughters, Erin and Avery Lambert; siblings, Sharon Tallant (Robert), Monette Maher, Teresa Spencer and Ted Brasfield;  sisters-in-law, Reba Maxwell (Larry), Elaine O’Doherty and Tammy Smith; a host of nieces of nephews; a special aunt, Bobbie Woodall and best friend, Jeff Smith.



He was proceeded in death by his parents and grandparents, William “Mote” Woodall and Jenny McBrayer Woodall, Elliot Gilfoy Brassfield, Sr. and Ida Blansett Brassfield Clemons.



A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m., December 23, 2017 at Common Ground Christian Church in Wren. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service all at Common Ground. Chase Larmour, Joel Brooks, David Pannell and R-Kay Willardson will be officiating.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Okolona Zion Assembly Church of God, 60063 Christian Rd., Amory, MS 38821.
