Ed Forrester

September 16, 1921 — August 12, 2008

Dorsey - Lewis Edward Ed Forrester, 86, died Monday, August 11, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of the Glen Community, he was born September 16, 1921 to Lewis Golbern and Ella Jane Lambert Forrester. He grew up in Burnsville. A U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, he served as a cook during World War II in the South Pacific. He was retired from the Truck Center, Inc. as a diesel mechanic after more than 20 years of service. He continued working as a truck driver after his retirement for several companies. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing, cooking for his family and friends and serving his Lord. He was a member of Fawn Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Fawn Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Booker and Rev. James V. Mills officiating. Tiffney Keene will give a eulogy. Burial will be in Fawn Grove Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Betty Cook Forrester of Dorsey; four daughters, Carolyn Orcutt and husband, John, of Santa Rosa, Calif., Debbie Cagle and husband, Lamar, of Birmingham, Ala., Leah Khan and husband, Shahid, of Baton Rouge, La., and Lynn James and husband, Carl, of Corinth; one son, William E. Forrester and wife, Rose, of Dorsey; two sisters, Goldie Morris of Atmore, Ala and Helen Madison of Columbus; two brothers, Junior Forrester and wife, Mary, and Donnie Forrester and wife, Ruby, all of Columbus; ten grandchildren; five great-grandsons; a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hazel Weathers and Bonnie Forrester; and two brothers, Robert Forrester and James Forrester.

Pallbearers will be Perry Franks, David Howell, Phillip Marlin, Ricky Rayburn, Ken Brown, Doug Stamper, and Mark Tigner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Russell Burcham, J.T. Knight, Charles Comer, Carlton Stephens, and Troy Brown.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 at the funeral home.
