Tupelo- Earline Anglin Alexander, 96, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, at her daughter's residence in Tupelo after a lengthy illness. A Lee County native, she was born January 2, 1922, to Leander and Lydia Byram Anglin. On November 4, 1939, Earline married the love of her life Vardaman Alexander. They spent the next 46 years epitomizing the true meaning of love, respect, and marriage while raising a family and even worked together for many years. The two were inseparable until his unexpected death in September 1985. She had a long and stellar career in the garment industry and most notably retired from Reed Manufacturing in 1987. Earline loved to cook and was especially known for her fresh coconut cake. She cooked Sunday lunch every week for her family well into her 90's. Earline enjoyed spending special time with her children and grandchildren. An avid gardner, she also enjoyed tending to her 50 plus rose bushes. Earline was the last surviving charter member of Priceville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the church choir.
Survivors include one daughter, Madie Morton of Tupelo; one son, Ray Alexander and his wife, Barbara of Saltillo; one sister, Mary Ruth Goff and her husband, Billy of Mooreville; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Alexander of Tupelo; six grandchildren, Tammy Roaten and her husband, Tim, Kelly Alexander and his wife, Melissa, Wes Morton, Karen Medlock and her husband, Scott, David Alexander and Ginger McCullough and her husband, John and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vardaman Alexander; her parents; one son, William Eugene "Gene" Alexander; one son-in-law, Charles Morton and several brothers and sisters, Vera Dye, Bernice Stults, Orbin Anglin, Lubert Anglin, Tulon Anglin and JC Anglin.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Tim Roaten officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons and great-grandsons.
