EARLENE WATTS

Baldwyn - Earlene Watts, 83, died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Pontotoc native, she was born July 29, 1923, to the late James and Gertrude Smith Griffin. She was a past employee of Hardin's Bakery and Sherer's Drive Inn. An avid reader, she enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, working puzzels, and the time she spent with her family and grandchildren. She was married to Elbert "Buddy" Watts for 38 years. He preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1977. She was a member of Light House Assembly of God in Saltillo.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. David Lann officiating. Burial will be in Jernigan Cemetery in Pontotoc County.

Survivors include two daughters, Nell Dunaway of Guntown and Rita Horton and husband, Jacky, of Saltillo; one son, Richard Watts and wife, Grace, of Baldwyn; one son-in-law, Joe Vess of Baldwyn; one sister, Jessie Harris of Mooreville; one brother, Edward Griffin and wife, Lorene, of Red Banks; one half-sister, Kathy Raper and husband, Edward, of the Palmetto Community; one half-brother, Joseph Griffin of Florida; 13 grandchildren, Jerry Dunaway, Larry Dunaway, Shela Harris, Jeff Dunaway, Marty Dunaway, Sonya Brooks, Tracy Coleman, Michael Horton, Jennifer Horton, Kelly Ringold, Buddy Watts, Angela Garrett, and Brandy Kidd; eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; one daughter, Frances Vess; one son, E.J. Watts; two sisters, Sybil Spearman and Virgie Box; and one son-in-law, Herman Dunaway..

Pallbearers will be Michael Horton, Buddy Watts, Jeff Dunaway, Marty Dunaway, Wilson Coleman, Mike Kidd, and Roger Brooks.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Saltillo funeral home.
