AUBURN - Earl Wallis, 39, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at the Darlington House Hospice in Verona after a short illness. He was born Jan. 22, 1968, in Barstow, California. He was a construction worker before his health failed him.

He loved to garden, woodworking and knife collecting and spending time with his friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Jack Washington officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Isobel Wallis of the Auburn community; two sisters, Bobbie Ready and James of Tupelo and Bonnie Myers Scott and Greg of Dorsey; one stepsister, Kathy Miller and Terry of Blue Mountain; five stepbrothers, Neil Bateman and Twila of Camp Ground, Robert Bateman and Randy Bateman and Donna, all of Ripley, Darrell Bateman of Walnut and Dale Bateman and Pam of Gravestown; and his stepmother, Mary Wallis of Walnut.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Wallis; and his grandmother, Lydia Wallis.
Pallbearers will be Andy Spees, Randy Sullivan, Tiny Chism, Jeff Chism, Paul Burroughs and Thomas Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be Joel David and Mike Broy.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
