REV. DOYLE B. COOPER
Guin, Ala " Rev. Doyle B. Cooper, 68, died Thursday evening near Houston from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born July 2, 1939 in East Tupelo to Howard C. and Loreda Christian Cooper. He was raised in the Belden area and was a 1957 graduate of Belden High School. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force. He had resided in Guin and was the Pastor of Old Paths Baptist Church. Earlier in his ministry, he was pastor of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Tremont for over 11 years. His ministry also included preaching the gospel on Unity Broadcasting Channel 39 in Fulton, and sermonaudio.com. He enjoyed shopping/searching for miscellaneous electronic items and attending automobile auctions. He loved his family and the time he spent with them and was especially close to his nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Grady Davidson and Bro. Charles White officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Belden.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Cooper of Guin, Alabama; his mother, Loreda Cooper; his step-children, Gary Purser and his wife, Dorinda, of Newman, Georgia, David Purser and his wife, Shay, of Cottondale, Alabama, Steve Purser of Rogersville, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Ruby McWhorter; and his nephews, David Cooper and wife, Teresa, of Tupelo, Larry Cooper of Plantersville, Mark Cooper and his wife, Teresa of Plantersville; a great nephew; several great nieces; cousins; and step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Cooper and a brother, Darrell Cooper
Pallbearers will be Mark Cooper, Larry Cooper, David Cooper, Darrell Cooper, Gary Purser, David Purser, and Steve Purser.
An Honorary pallbearer will be Brent Marcy.
Memorials may be made to Unity Broadcasting in Fulton.
