DOT CARTER Tupelo - Dorothy Carolyn Harlow Carter, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Countrywood Plantation. She was born January 15, 1929 to Homer and Ona Harlow. She married Jimmie Carter in 1947 and they made their home in Tupelo where they owned and operated Tupelo Marble Works. She was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church for over 70 years where she served as a 7th grade Sunday School teacher for many years. She also served as President of Women's Missionary Union (WMU) and as a member of the History Committee. She was a devoted wife and mother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends and playing Bridge. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Survivors include daughter, Kim Carter Woodson (Steven W.) of Slidell, Louisiana; grandchildren, Rebecca Aldridge (Robert) of Helena, Montana and Joseph Carter Woodson (Madelyn) of Houston, Texas; nephew, Steve Harlow (Patti) of Marietta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by husband, Jimmie Carter; brother, Wayne Harlow; nephew, Ron Harlow; and her parents. Visitation will be 1 - 3 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 N. Church Street, Tupelo, MS 38804.
