DOROTHY DUKE STEPP

Chesterville - DOROTHY DUKE STEPP, 88, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at Darlington Oaks at Community Hospice after an extended illness. A Lee County native and lifelong resident of the Chesterville Community, she was born April 9, 1919 to the late Claude Elford and Lucille Means Duke. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flower gardening and baking. She was the widow of James Otis Stepp who preceded her in death June 3, 1989. She was active in the Home Demonstration Clubs and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Bissell Baptist Church and before her health declined worked with the WMU and taught Sunbeams.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Williams of Tupelo; one son, James Edward "Eddie" Stepp and wife, Cynthia, Tupelo; five grandchildren, Carla Williams Chandler and husband, Mark of Muscatine, Iowa, Amanda Stepp Ingellis and husband, Chris, of Maumelle, Ark., George Stepp and wife, Lisa, of Palmetto, Katie Stepp Sheffield and husband, Andy of Tupelo, and Sam Stepp of Tupelo; six great-grandchildren, Reid and Layton Chandler, Isabella and Nicholas Ingellis, Jacob Stepp and Wyatt Sheffield; two sisters, Edith Fikes and husband, Charles and Betty Breland and husband, Billy; three brothers, Claude Duke, Cecil Duke and wife, Juanita, and Charles Duke and wife, Pat, all of Tupelo.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Williams.

Pallbearers will be George Shelton, Len Shelton, Glen Shelton, Grover Snipes, Ben Burleson, Jerry Mansell, Jerry Loden, and Jimmy Roberts.

Visitation will continue 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bissell Baptist Church.
