Dorothy Evans Plantersville- Dorothy Ruth Rodgers Evans, 90, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at her residence in the Union Community south of Plantersville after a lengthy illness. She was born March 16, 1922, in the Mount Vernon Community to Jesse James Rodgers and Cora Belle Clayton Rodgers. She married David Hudson Evans in 1936 in the Union Community where they made their home and raised their family. As she requested, there will only be a graveside service which will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Union Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by her three children, Dorothy Ann Knowles (Medford) of Nettleton, Patricia Akers (Murray) of Greenville, and David Hudson Evans, Jr. (Janice) of Plantersville; one brother, Paul Clayton Rodgers of Starkville; thirteen grand-children; twenty four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Sara Frances Gary; one great-grand daughter, Hannah Rose Wood; eight brothers and four sisters.
