Dorothy Christian

SaltilloDorothy Y. Christian, 85, died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Homeplace in Saltillo. She was born July 7, 1922, in Indianola to the late Roy and Helen Jeanette Shepherd Yarbrough. She graduated from Indianola High School, attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky and Scarrit College of Christian Education in Nashville, Tenn. She enjoyed many years of ministry in the United Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher and she held offices in the local church, as well as the district and conference.

Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Laman officiating.

Survivors include one daughter, Rev. Nancy Rehkugler and husband, Gerry, of Fayetteville, NY; one son, Tommy C. Poole and wife, Barbara, of Dublin, Va.; one brother, John Yarbrough of Indianola; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Tommy Poole in 1971 and her second husband, Rev. J. C. Christian, in 2003.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues.
