Dorothy Burleson Best
Nettleton - Dorothy Burleson Best, 91, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at NMMC Hospice. She was born March 23, 1926 to Dewey and Bertha Burleson in Mississippi.
Dorothy spent more than 70 years as a homemaker at her home and a babysitter for everybody in the Nettleton area. She was also a member of Victory Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed spending time with the numerous members of her family.
Dorothy is survived by four daughters, Shirley Emler of Nettleton, Sue Monger of Austin, Texas, Doris Foster (Jim) of Nettleton and Debbye Wilemon (Todd) of Fulton; four sons, Gary Best of Saltillo, Danny Best (Debbie) of Saltillo, Timmy Best (Kim) of Nettleton and Mike Best (Susan) of Brewer; sisters, Runell Bryant and Joanne Smith, both of Nettleton; brothers, Buddy Burleson of Chesterville and Bill Burleson of Tennessee; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and special member of the family, Ronnie Shackelford of Nettleton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, John Paul, Glenn and Randy Best; grandchildren, Sherry Best and Cary Thomason; brothers, Bob and Harold Burleson; sisters, Margie Alred and Doris Seymore; son-in-law, Buddy Emler; and daughter-in-law, Patti Best.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Robert Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
