Doris Shirley

Birmingham Ridge - Doris Shirley, 70, died Monday, September 7, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born November 1, 1938 to Cordie Lee and Iva Lee Scruggs Hill. She was retired from National Mortgage Company in Memphis, Tenn. She had lived in Birmingham Ridge the past 13 years.

Graveside Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her son, Brad Shirley (Carol) of the Oak Hill Community and his father, Bob Shirley of Birmingham Ridge; one granddaughter, Hannah Shirley and one grandson, Parker Shirley, both of Hattiesburg; one daughter-in-law, Jenny Shirley Martin of Hattiesburg; three sisters, Fay Spearman of Saltillo, Sarah Turner of Mantachie, and Freda Meek of Tupelo; one brother, Ralph Hill of Mantachie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Maj. Robert Lee Shirley; a sister, Laura Mooney and a brother, Gerald Hill.

Visitation will be noon until service time Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the funeral home.
