Saltillo - Dora Mae Tackett, 83, died Thursday, November 11, 2010, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Helena, Ark., she was born January 2, 1927, to Marcus and Dora Lea Hester McGloffin. She lived in Michigan for many years where she worked as a greenhouse gardener, before moving to Saltillo nine years ago. She loved sitting on the porch visiting with friends and family. She was the widow of William Henry Tackett who died seven years ago. She was a faithful member of New Hope Full Gospel.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Chris Stacks officiating. Burial will be in Valley Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Bass (James) of Saltillo; four sons, Bobby Tackett (Marilyn) of Kalamazoo, Mich., David Tackett (Judy) of Decatur, Mich., William Tackett of Saltillo, and Johnny Tackett (Carol) of Hartford, Mich.; four sisters, Clara Nell Swords (Sherman) and Margie Swords (Clifford) of all of Randolph, Betty Sue of Guntown and Carolyn of Florida; one brother, Dicky McGloffin of Jackson, Tenn. 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William Henry Tackett; her son, William Leon Tackett; and her grandson, William Michael Tackett.
Pallbearers will be Keith Bass, Daniel Bass, Jeffrey Bass, Nick Wright, Justin Wright, and Jake Wright.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Saltillo Funeral Home and will continue Saturday and Sunday until service time.
