Don Weatherly
Tupelo / Pontotoc- Don Alan Weatherly, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on September 7, 1949, and was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Kyle and Dorothy Lee Weatherly, as well as his baby sister, Susan Mitchell.
A proud graduate of Pontotoc High School, Don went on to earn degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Mississippi, where he later obtained an MBA in Business Management. He dedicated 35 years of his career as the Administrator for Hematology and Oncology Associates in Tupelo. His leadership was instrumental in securing the Cancer Center in Tupelo, which has provided essential healthcare services to thousands of Mississippians for many years.
Don had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed playing the guitar, particularly his cherished Rickenbacker—just like John Lennon’s. A devoted fan of The Beatles, he also had an enduring passion for Ole Miss football. His love for cooking exquisite cuisine was unmatched, and he found joy in preparing and sharing meals with those he loved.
In his free time, Don enjoyed spending time at Grenada Lake, running a trotline on the Skuna River, and keeping his mind sharp by reading and playing Mahjong on the computer. He took great pride in maintaining lifelong friendships, staying closely connected with childhood and career friends who kept his spirit alive and well.
He also dedicated much of his time to coaching baseball and soccer in the Tupelo area, mentoring and inspiring many young athletes. Known for his focused and goal-oriented nature, Don was a self-proclaimed realist who balanced seriousness with a keen sense of humor.
His survivors are sons, Alan Kyle Weatherly (Jennifer), and David Scott Weatherly (Dee Dee); sister, Vivian Payne (Bill); and brother, Pete Weatherly (Dora). He loved his grandchildren more than life itself and they are Presley Anne Weatherly, Ryleigh Parker Weatherly, and Alivia Kathrine Watts, Cousin Eddy, and his special friend, Connie Baker. We ask that the Lord look over Don and all of us during this difficult time.
