Dois Garner Smith Tupelo- Dois Jean Garner Smith died February 14, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice House of complications from an accident at her home in Tupelo. She was born November 17, 1927 in Lee County to Lewis E. and Miley Petago Garner. Upon graduation from Mooreville High School at the age of 16, she began working at the Peoples Bank and Trust Company where she remained a loyal and dedicated employee for 48 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and sisters and considered her trip to Israel, Egypt, and Greece as one of the highlights of her life. She was a faithful member of the East Main Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Lee Smith, her sisters, Roberta Garner Davis (C. B.) and Lavern Garner Dearman, and her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Smith Walden, all of Tupelo. She is also survived by her nieces, Dr. Jean Chittom Smith (Bob H.) of Mooreville, Janice Chittom McKinney (Robert E. ) of Fulton, Julia Dearman Wood (Ewing) of Dorsey, Janet Dearman Byrge (Jerry) of Helenwood, TN, Lynne Walden Palmeiro (Rafael) of Colleyville, TX, LuAnne Walden Funderburk (Paul) of Tupelo, Martha Burch Tubb of Amory, Carolyn Burch Harris (Charles) of Poplar Bluff, MO, Dorothy Smith Sandroni of Marion, AR, and Callie Smith Meyer of Memphis, TN. Surviving nephews are Louie Dearman (Charlotte) of Tupelo, Terry Dearman (Karen) of Saltillo, Steve Walden (Kathy) of Tupelo, Scott Walden (Kristie) of Birmingham, AL, Kelby Smith (Martha) of Florence, AL, Clovis Burch of Shreveport, LA, Lee Thomas Burch (Eugenia) of Birmingham, AL, and James Murry Smith (Carolyn) of Tupelo. She is also survived by special friends Mamie and Stanley Allen and their children Maurice and Crysta, and Tammy Bass all of Tupelo, as well as her nurses Robbie Pounders and Sherry Norris both of Fulton. She is preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, Ellie Smith, her brother, Clyde R. Garner, her brothers-in-law, Glen O. Dearman, Aubrey H. Chittom, Fred Walden, Julian Smith and his wife Clytee, Omer Smith and his wife Esther, her sister-in-law, Olean Smith Burch and her husband Leeman, and her nephews, Mike Walden, David Dearman, and O.B. Smith and her niece Faye Smith Grissom. Funeral Service will be held at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with ministers Gary Williams and Kelby Smith officiating. Visitation will be Sunday between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. She will be interred in the Garner family plot at Springhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Walden, Scott Walden, Paul Funderburk, Len B. Schaefer III, Bob McKinney, and Terry Dearman. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders and deacons of the East Main Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to the East Main Church of Christ Library or mission funds, 1606 E.
