DIANE TANNEHILL Tupelo - Diane Evans Henderson Tannehill, 80, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at her residence after an extended illness. A Phoenix native, she was born January 7, 1932, to Clifford Arthur and Violette Margaret Letts Evans. Her father died when she was seven and several years later her mother married Alpheus Lester Henderson, who became her second father. She graduated from Duke University and later earned a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Mississippi. In 1954 she married Antone Walter Tannehill, Jr. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she served for several years as church librarian. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tom Groome and Rev. Carson Overstreet officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include three sons, Antone Walter Tannehill, III of Newhall, California, David Henderson Tannehill (Melody) of Germantown, Tennessee and Jeffery Wyman Tannehill of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Jonathan Davidson Tannehill, Katharine Margaret Tannehill and Sara Augusta Tannehill all of Germantown, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, second father, Alpheus Lester Henderson, and her husband, Dr. Antone Walter Tannehill, Jr. Pallbearers will be John Castles, Dr. Swan Burrus, Charles Johnston, Heywood Washburn, Dr. Byron "Doc" Green, Dr. Benton Hilbun, Sr., Mark Monts, Mike Marion, Dr. Peter Whithead, Tommy Wood, Benton Hilbun, Jr., Grayson Robbins, Bill Lyle and Glenn McCullough. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time Saturday in McFadden Hall of First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, 400 Jefferson Street, Tupelo, MS 38804; The Antone Tannehill Good Samaritan Free Clinic, P.O.
