TUPELO - Dexter Lee Wade, 77, died suddenly Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Oxford Veterans Home. He was born Jan. 26, 1930, to the late Watson and Mae Bannister Wade. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was partners of East Main Tire Store with his brother, Bill. Later he retired as a rural letter carrier. He was an avid golfer and loved all outdoor activities.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. Ken Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Vama Wade of Tupelo; one son, Jeff Wade and wife, Remona, of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Abby and Conner Wade; two sisters, Twila Dye and husband, Rea, of Shannon, and Mavis Satterwhite of Carthage; and three brothers, Eddie Wade and wife, Floy, of Mobile, Ala., Frank Wade and wife, Ann, and Joe Wade and wife, Faye, all of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida Ruth and Lorraine Wade; and three brothers, Chester, Ray and Bill Wade.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
