TUPELO - Dexter Wayne Snow, 68, died Oct. 4, 2008, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. An Itawamba native, he was born July 8, 1940, to George Washington and Wilma Louise Canup Snow. He was a United States Army veteran of Desert Storm and retired from the Mississippi National Guard Armory after 23 years. He retired after 26 years from Malone and Hyde in Tupelo. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, watching them perform in the band and race go-karts.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Ray Stevens and Rev. Tim Winters officiating. Burial will be in Pearce Chapel Cemetery in Smithville with military honors. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joyce Stanford Snow; two sons, Michael Snow (Cathy) of Pontotoc and George Snow of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Britni and Austin Snow of Pontotoc; honorary grandchildren, Addison and Chloe Lackey and Andrew Riley; two sisters, Joice Snow of Centralia, Wash. and Barbara Cowley (Earl Wayne) of Smithville; two brothers, Jerry Snow (Gay) of Fulton and Johnny Snow (Teresa) of Smithville; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jean Strange; and one brother, Rex Snow.
Pallbearers will be John and Roger Snow, Brad Lackey, Tony and Trevor Palmer and Steve Stanford.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
