Dean " Peewee " Holland

BrewerDean B. Peewee Holland, 77, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born May 11, 1929, in Ripley, Tenn. to the late Henry C. and Lola Williams Holland. He had lived in Tupelo most of his adult life. For 29 years he worked at Mid South Packers and then 18 years at A & T. He enjoyed taking care of his numerous farm animals, working in his vegetable garden and dealing in scrap metal. An avid wrestling fan, he could always be found watching WWE, Smackdown, and ECW.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Jerry Wise and the Rev. Frankie Dean Jones officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery

Survivors include his companion of over 40 years, Joan Royce of Brewer; his children, Rickey Holland and wife, Pat, of Verona, Martha Sandlin and husband, Tommy, of Saltillo, Christine Pottle and husband, Raymond, of Carmel, ME. Denise Neal and husband, W.T., of Brewer, Nicolette Shelton of Watertown, Wisc., Todd Royce and wife, Patricia, of Plantersville, Thad Royce of Shreveport, La.; a special granddaughter, Lexy Gilmore of Brewer; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Holland of Southaven; one sister, Mary Patterson of Henning, Tenn.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Benjamin and three brothers, Boone, Phillip, and Nathan Holland.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Royce, Brandon Royce, Kenneth Royce, Scott Holland, Michael Mitchell, and Joe Gurley.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
