David Johnson

January 6, 1956 — January 16, 2023

Austin, Texas--David Curtis Johnson was born January 6, 1956, in Tupelo. He died January 16, 2023 at his home in Austin, Texas. He was the middle of three boys and was an active and sporty kid. He played High School football at Tupelo High School. He went on to serve in the US Coastguard. Dave then lived in many places before settling in Arizona and helping his Dad Charles for several years. After Charles passed, Dave moved to Corpus Christi, Texas so he could be closer to the coast. Dave was famous for his love of all types of food but particularly seafood. At all times carrying around his Louisiana hot sauce and Tony Chachere’s to spice it up to his liking. After riding out Hurricane Harvey in 2017, he decided to move up to Austin for a change of pace. His sisters Jenny and DeeDee got to spend lots of time with him exploring restaurants in the city. Dave was a devoted football fan and always looked forward to College and NFL seasons. He was a unique individual who lived a full life.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Myrna Williams and Father Charles C. Johnson, Sr.

He is survived by his 4 siblings: Charles C. Johnson, Jr., Jeff Johnson (Connie), DeeDee Johnson, and Jenny Tolan (Yam).

A graveside service honoring Dave’s memory will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Verona City Cemetery.
