Evergreen Community- Byron David Ellis, 66, died suddenly Sunday, November 4, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Tupelo, February 26, 1952, to William and Lila Lamb Ellis. He was raised in Tupelo and graduated from Mooreville High School. He also attended Itawamba Community College. For four years, David served his country in the 101st Airborne in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 1975, he began working with the United States Postal Service on Thomas Street and was a faithful employee until his retirement in 2013. He loved spending time with his family and golfing. He was of the Baptist faith.



Survivors include two daughters, Mandy May and her husband, Dennis Morgan of Olive Branch and Candice Mauldin and her husband, John of Tupelo; one son, Phillip Byron Ellis of Tupelo; five grandchildren, John Ellis Price, Jack Richard Price, John David Mauldin, Piper Ann Mauldin and Judson Cole Mauldin; three sisters, Bobbie Jean Christian of Fulton, Ann Payne and her husband, David of Sherman and Clara Black and her husband, Leon of Mooreville; and one brother, James W. "Sonny" Ellis and his wife, Jamie of Tupelo.



He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lila Ellis.



Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.



Services with Military Honors will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Robert Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Gilvo Cemetery.



Pallbearers will be Ricky Nunnelee, Billy Nunnelee, Mike Davis, Thomas Lee Scott, Dennis Morgan and Johnny Baldwin.
