David E. McCormack, Sr.
Keller, Texas formerly of Tupelo - David Eugene McCormack, Sr., age 91, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022 in Keller, Texas after a brief illness. Born on May 19, 1931, in Shannon, Mississippi, he was the son of William and Manda McCormack. David attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Upon graduation David was employed at Hunter Sadler before being drafted to serve in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Upon returning home from service, he spent the next 28 years at Campbell 66 Express and a few additional years at Brown Transportation and Arkansas Freightways before retiring from the transportation industry. After retirement, David enjoyed driving automobiles for various dealerships in Tupelo with all his friends. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time on the weekends at his farm where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. David also loved playing golf and spent many weekends on the golf course with his kids. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether it was weekend card games, softball or basketball games and tournaments or the many vacations to the beaches of Panama City and Destin, Florida. He was a long-time member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.
David leaves behind his two children, Jennifer McCormack of Keller, Texas, and David McCormack (Tally) of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and two grandchildren, Ben McCormack of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Mary Tally McCormack-Luedtke (Bobby) of Pasadena, California.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Betty; parents, William and Manda McCormack; and five sisters.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Services to celebrate David’s life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Rev. David Smith officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at Lee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Ben McCormack, Nickey Coggins, John Coggins, Ronald Coggins, Brian Riggs, Mike Collum, Scott Coward, and Kevin Coward.
