MOOREVILLE " David Emilio Barrera, 72, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. A native of Guatemala, he was born July 16, 1934, to the late Gerardo and Amalia Morales Barrera. He graduated from Instituto Industrial School in 1952, then went to Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas, for one year. He also attended Walla Walla College in College Place, Wash. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he was head deacon, Sabbath School superintendent and building inspector. He worked for Precision Machine Alignment in Milwaukee, Wis., for 13 years and started his own business, Industrial Technical Services Inc. in Mooreville in 1977.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Pastor Carlis Clinton and Elder Ray Elsberry officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Marcia Barrera of Mooreville; one daughter, Jennifer Barrera of Mooreville; two sisters, Miriam Foldvary (Fritz) of California and Mary Torres of Guatemala City, Guatemala; two brothers, Manuel and Hector Barrera of Guatemala City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Victoria Barrera and Gloria Barrera; and three brothers, Gerardo, Luis Adolfo and Josue Barrera.
Pallbearers will be George Spellings, Jesse Wilson, Dennis Gober, Jimmy Pappas, Dr. George Miller and Robby Thomas.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
