DAVID EVANS With his family by his side, David Hudson (Dave) Evans, Jr., 64, went to be with his Lord on November 24th, 2013. He was born on March 24th, 1949, in Tupelo, MS, to David Hudson Evans, Sr. and Dorothy Rodgers Evans. He graduated from Nettleton High School in 1967 and attended both Itawamba Junior College and Mississippi State University. Dave had 42 years of experience in the wholesale fuel industry, serving in executive management and helping develop J.P. Mills Oil Co., later purchased as Victory Energy, LLC. Working in the states of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Louisiana, he helped grow the Sprint Mart convenience store chain. Slated to be President, he most recently served as the Vice President of the Mississippi Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores Association. He also represented Mississippi with the Petroleum Marketers of America (PMAA) with trips to Washington, D.C. An enthusiastic storyteller, Dave enjoyed spending time with his family above all else. He also enjoyed the outdoors whether on his tractor, his motorcycle or a duck hunt. His faith in Christ was very important to him and he was a dedicated servant to God, his family and many friends. He leaves behind his loving wife, Janice, whom he married in April 1984; two sons, Jason (Christa) and Clay (Ashley), all of Plantersville, MS; one daughter, Ginger Evans, of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Dorothy Knowles, of Nettleton, MS, and Patricia Akers, of Greenville, MS; and four grandsons, Carter, Jaxon, Hudson and Hayes, all of Plantersville, MS. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Gary. Pallbearers will be Gwin Berryhill, Billy Bozeman, James Ray Davis, Darrell Rankin, John Simmons and Curtis Trawick. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Gillis, Rex Gillis, Joe Mills, Charles Morris and Joe Morris. Visitation will be Friday, November 29th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at W. E. Pegues Funeral Home in Tupelo, MS, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery in Plantersville, MS. Brother Brian Tyndall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association Research Foundation, ADA Research Foundation - Web, Attn: Individual Giving Department, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311. Memorials may also be made to the Harrisburg Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund.
