DARINDA COBB MONAGHAN



Darinda Cobb Monaghan, age 69, of Tupelo, MS, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014.



Darinda was born to Edgar and Inez Cobb on May 5, 1944, in Manila, Arkansas. In 1962, Darinda graduated from Tupelo High School, where she played basketball. After high school, Darinda worked as a cost account at Purnell?s Pride and later at Super Sagless in Tupelo, MS.



As a young woman, Darinda was an avid bowler who participated in many tournaments in the area. She loved traveling to the beach with her daughter Dana, attending boat races with her brother Tommy, and traveling to the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Europe with her husband Ray.



For several years, Darinda co-owned Kaleidoscope Stained Glass in Tupelo where she created an array of exquisite stained-glass windows, lamps, and other unique designs that are displayed in homes and business throughout Northeast Mississippi. Later in her life, Darinda enjoyed helping her family with creative, household projects. In addition, she became an avid fan of the National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas and traveled to many shows with her stepdaughter Terri, her granddaughter Jessica, and her friends of the NALC. Spending time at home with her neighbors and friends Marie Thompson and Tonia Nicholson and their families also brought joy to her life.



Never meeting a stranger, Darinda made any person feel welcome because her beautiful smile and vivacious spirit captivated those she met. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.



Darinda is survived by her spouse Ray Monaghan of Tupelo, MS; daughter Dana Kearney Wallace and her husband Terry of Tupelo, MS; stepdaughter Terri Monaghan of Denham Springs, LA; and stepdaughter Robin Monaghan Lowe and her husband Michael of Amory, MS. She is survived by her grandchildren Adam and Jessica Wallace; and step-granddaughter Caroline Merritt Lowe.



She is also survived by her brother Tommy Cobb and his wife Jo of Tupelo MS; her sister-in-law Anna Cobb of Tupelo, MS; three nieces and one nephew; and eight great-nieces and nephews.



Darinda is preceded in death by her mother and father Edgar and Inez Cobb of Tupelo, MS, and her brother Roger Cobb of Arlington, TX.



A celebration of life and visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Pegues Funeral Home located at 535 Jefferson Street, Tupelo, MS, with continued visitation on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, from 1:30-2:30 PM. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM at Lee Memorial Park, 5257 Raymond Avenue, Verona, MS 38879.
