Danny Burroughs

Belden - Daniel Harmon Danny Burroughs, 57, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at his home. The son of U.S. Air Force parents, he was born in Bermuda on April 11, 1954, to G.J. and Josephine Baldwyn Burroughs. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1972 where he played football, and then attended Itawamba Junior College. He earned his Bachelors degree from Johnson Bible College. He also served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by BancorpSouth Merchant Services. His greatest joy was time spent with his family. An avid Ole Miss Football fan, he also enjoyed music, riding 4-wheelers, camping, fishing and traveling. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tupelo.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Chad Grayson officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Judy Burroughs of Belden; his children, Scott Burroughs and fiance, Mayce Yeager of Tupelo, Kimberly Burroughs Swan (Justin) of Smithville; his step-children, Jason Miller, Mandy Smith (John), and Maggie Miller, all of Tupelo; his mother, Josephine Baldwyn Burroughs of Tupelo; three sisters, Janice Meguire (Pat) of Tupelo, Judy Burroughs Williams (Clete) of Hamilton, Ala., and Misty Haire (Chris) of Ashville, N.C.; his brother, Kenny Burroughs (Vonda) of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Matt Swan, Gabby Swan, and Addison Smith; his nieces and nephews, Stephanie Coon, P.J. Meguire, Cate Burroughs, Clair Burroughs, Bo Burroughs, Brittany Haire, and Anna Grace Haire.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Burroughs; his grandparents, Tim and Ola Mae Burroughs and Hubbard and Essie Baldwyn.

Pallbearers will be Mike Griffin, Mike Hare, Leslie Brand, Andy Creely, Gid Stuckey, and Artie Prater

Honorary Pallbearers will be Rod Counce, Brian McCutchen, and Dan Prater.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
