JAMES DALTON CODY RICE Tupelo - James Dalton Cody Rice, 20, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center. A New Albany native, he was born October 21, 1993 to Cristal Cody and Jeffrey Rice. He was a graduate of Mooreville High School, he then went on to Itawamba Community College where he graduated with an Associates of Arts degree . He intended to obtain a degree in biology from the University of Mississippi where he had been accepted. Dalton enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, playing games, four wheeler riding, hiking and camping. He also loved cooking, music, and spending time with his family and friends. He was kind hearted and admired for his strong work ethic. He will be remembered and missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Jefferson Street Chapel. Burial will be in Saltillo Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his parents, Cristal Cody of Tupelo and Jeff Rice of Saltillo; Grandparents, Bill Cody (Gigi), Pat Swanberg (Mark) of Tupelo, Alice Rice of Saltillo; and one step-brother, Austin Burton of Pontotoc. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Rice. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the funeral home.
