DALLAS C. BROWN Tupelo - Dallas C. Brown, 79, died Sunday morning, May 4, 2014, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 9, 1935, in Willailla, Kentucky, to Maurice J. and Ora English Cress Brown. He attended a two room school house until the age of eleven when he moved, with his family, to Somerset, Kentucky. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1952. A United States Navy Veteran, he was Honor Man of his company, served on a Destroyer, and was trained at the U.S. Fleet Sonar School in San Diego, California. Dallas married O'Dell Roberts on December 20, 1960. The couple relocated several times before moving to Tupelo in December of 1976. In Tupelo he worked with Arvin Industries. He also worked at Wal-Greens, Monarch and eventually retired from Stanley. He was an avid golfer, playing countless rounds in Tupelo and Amory. He was a member of Northeast Church of Christ. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Minister Jim Allen officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, O'Dell Brown of Tupelo; one daughter, Paula Brown "Shelly" of Tupelo; one son-in-law, John Edward Hayes and his wife, Brenda, of Corinth; one grandchild, Ashley Nicole Hayes of Tupelo; one great-grandchild, Nolan Gunner and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamala C. Hayes, September 10, 2009 and one sister, Ruth Measel. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at the funeral home.
