D. L. Byrd

D. L. BYRD Unity Community - Dillion L. Byrd, 91, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility after a brief illness. He was born on July 16, 1923 to William Lafayette and Mary Belle Adams Byrd. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII. Flying model airplanes, woodworking and gardening were some of his favorite hobbies. D. L. was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the Saltillo Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Ken Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dollie Byrd of Unity Community; one son, Jeffrey Byrd (Susan) of Birmingham Ridge Community; one son-in-law, Mike Kizer of Huntsville, Texas; five grandchildren, Brandy, Brandon, Brody, Michelle and Deanna; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eva Lowrey and Iva Arnold; five brothers, Edward, Herbert, Noonan, Eldon and John Byrd. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014, at W. E. Pegues, Saltillo.
