Curtis West

Tupelo - Curtis West, 96, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at the Simerson Green House of Cedars Heathcare Center after a brief illness. A Lee County native, he was born May 9, 1912 to John Clifford and Maggie Mae Davidson West. He was a graduate of Shannon High School. He served in the United States Army. He married Loraine Bethany on January 15, 1946. He was a farmer for many years, later working as a carpenter. He was a member of the Shannon United Methodist Church.

Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Rev. Phillip Box officiating. Burial will be in the Shannon Cemetery.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Loraine Bethany West; who died in October 2003; his parents; eight brothers, Donald West, Leon West, Raymond Tucker West, Elon West, Howard West, Harry West, Orville West and Ralph West.

Pallbearers will be his nephews and great nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, June 27, 2008, one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
