COZETTE CRYDER Tupelo - Cozette Cryder, 96, died Saturday, May 11, 2013, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born February 26, 1917, in Lee County to Ed and Minnie Bell Haas Cryder. In his early life, he was a carpenter and the skills he learned stayed with him througout his life. He retired after many years of service from B&B Concrete. An U.S. Army Veteran, he served in the European Theatre with campaigns in Northern France, Ardenes, Rhineland and Cenral Europe during World War II and was the recipiant of the Bronze Star. He was a member of Tupelo Free Will Baptist Church for many years. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. Survivors include one son, James Ray Cryder of Baldwyn; one granddaughter, Cathy Cryder and fiance Tommy Morris of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren, Cayla and Caidyn Cryder and Christan Holman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Erma Cryder who died October 15, 2007. Pallbearers will be Robert Post, Scott, Greg and Carey Cryder, Joe Raper and David Haas. Phillip Long will serve as the honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be 6 - 9 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 at the funeral home.
