Corrine Franks

Mooreville - Corrine Ruth Franks, 94, died Thursday, September 3, 2009, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility after an extended illness. She was born in Ripley March 17, 1915 to Jess and Martha Tatum Richardson. She was a 1937 graduate of Cedar Hill High School and the widow of Shelby Preston Franks. While most of her life was spent as a loving homemaker in the Mooreville area, she had also worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber, the Lee County Welfare Office, Plantersville Sportsware, and McGraw Edison. She was a member of Boguefala Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Grady Davidson and Rev. Royce Hawkins officiating. Her longtime pastor, Rev. Elbert Boutwell, will serve as honorary minister. Burial will be in Boguefala Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Jean Phillips (Harold) of Belden, Jewell Webb (W.K.) of Saltillo and Betty Wiseman (John) of Baldwyn; nine grandchildren, Kathy Deere (Kirby) of Jackson, Jennifer Sharpe of Tupelo, Randy Webb (Renie) of New Albany, Mike Webb (Amy) of Iuka, Kristi Montgomery (Mark) of Saltillo, Mary Ruth Houston of Memphis, Tenn., Doug Houston of Saltillo, Lori Nix (Benny) of Booneville, and Patti Johnson of Booneville; 16 great-grandchildren, Emily Massey, Jennifer Mayeu, Kelsey Lancaster, Amy Sharpe, Corey Shouse, Haley Sharpe, Victoria Duncan, Brayden Webb, Isabella Webb, Amelia Webb, McKinley Montgomery, Ramsey Montgomery, Joshua Houston, Courtney Nix, Tyler Johnson and Zach Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Avery Kate Sharpe, Cavie Mayeu and Shaw Lancaster. She also leaves her extended family and caregivers at Baldwyn Nursing Facility, Homeplace in Saltillo and the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Shelby Preston Franks who died November 30, 1984.

Pallbearers will be Randy Webb, Mike Webb, Doug Houston, Dennis Parham, Gordon Smith, J. B. Mitchell, and Russell Burcham.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Prentiss Franks, Jerry Keith, Charles Brown, and Thomas Tatum.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
