Tupelo - Corinne Tate, 87, died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Golden Living Center after a brief illness. A Tupelo native and lifelong resident, she was born November 1, 1921 to Frank and Leona Haskett Richards. She worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart on West Main. Earlier, she had worked at the Thomas Street School cafeteria. An avid reader, she also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and cooking for her family at special gatherings. She was the widow of William Shelby Tate who died February 19, 1983 and a member of East Heights Baptist Church.
Services will be3 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelby Jean Seals (Kenneth) of Tupelo; one son, Curtis Tate (Nellie) of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Jeff Seals (Britt) of Birmingham, Mike Seals (Jennifer) of Tupelo, Diana Chambers (Michael) of Tupelo, Rhonda Judson of Tupelo and Logan Tate (Heather) of Tupelo; 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 43 years, William Shelby Tate.
Pallbearers will be Logan Tate, Jeff Seals, Mike Seals, Michael Chambers, Joshua Chambers, and Cody Chambers
Honorary Pallbearers will be Rhonda Judson and Diana Chambers.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
