CORDIE MAE NEWCOMB Mantachie - Cordie Mae Newcomb, 93, born November 5, 1920, went to be with her life-long love and soul mate of seventy-two years, Jess Hulon Newcomb on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the Courtyards Community Living Center in Fulton. She was born and reared in Mantachie. A homemaker, she spent much of her time raising her six children. She had a passion for cooking and was best known for her chicken and dumplings. She was member of Hills Church. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Castor Buse officiating. Burial will be in Hills Chapel Cemetery. Survivors include four children, Ernest Newcomb of Mantachie, Perry Newcomb of Booneville, Jerry Newcomb (Ann) of Mantachie and Shirley Newcomb of Fulton; ten grandchildren including her caretaker and granddaughter, Rebecca White (B.J.) of Mantachie; many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Hulon Newcomb, on Aug. 19, 2013; two children, Wayne Newcomb and Sarah Wilson; her daughter-in-law, Karen Newcomb. Pallbearers will be B.J. White, Nathan Hopkins, Alan and Terry Newcomb, Danny Raper, Charles "Chuck" Newcomb and Josh Hill. Honorary pallbearer will be Austin White. Visitation will be 10 - 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at the funeral home.
