Conrado Aguirre

February 19, 1927 — December 13, 2007

Tupelo - CONRADO AGUIRRE, 80, died Thursday, December 13, 2007, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after a battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. A Wichita, Kansas native, he was born February 19, 1927 to the late Francisco and Elena Aguirre. He married Joan Frey Aguirre April 1, 1947. He came to Tupelo in 1963 with Randy's Steak. He was one of the first to bring fine dining to Tupelo when he opened the Gaslight Inn in 1966 and Gloster 205 in 1979. He started Aguirre Quality Seating in 1985 and continued conducting business until his health failed. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed special family fatherings, especially their Sunday morning Mexican breakfasts together. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Henry Shelton and Father Gus Langenkamp officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joan Aguirre of Saltillo; one daughter, Elena Floyd of Tupelo; two sons, Bart Aguirre and wife, Patty of Saltillo and Philip Aguirre and wife, Barbara of Tupelo; one sister, Chelo Valadez and husband, Louis, of Wichita, Ks; two brothers, Maggie Aguirre and wife, Nellie of Wichita, Ks., and Raymond Aguirre and wife, Retha, of Mulvane, Ks; ten grandchildren, Sonya A. Parmer and husband, Mike, Shannon Drummond and husband, William (Bill), Shane Aguirre, Joey Aguirre, all of Tupelo, Jonathan Aguirre and wife, Kirsten, of Memphis, Tenn., Quana Casseri and husband, Adam, of Gretna, La., Arian Waldrop and husband Brent, of Tupelo, A.K. Aguirre of Tupelo, Mary Elizabeth Whiteside and husband, Cole, of Shannon, and Katy Floyd of Tupelo; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Manuel Aguirre..

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Aguirre, Joey Aguirre, Bill Drummond, Brent Waldrop, Adam Casseri, and Cole Whiteside.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Shane Aguirre and Mike Parmer and friends and neighbors of the Natchez Trace Villas.

A Rosary for the immediate family will be at 4:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with visitation following at 5 to 7 p.m.
