Lt. Col. Fred Teer, Jr., USAF, Ret.

FRED TEER Belden - Walter Fred Teer, Jr., 78, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Winona on September 14, 1936, to Walter Fred and Hallie Ward Teer. He graduated from Middleton High School in Middleton, Tennessee and attended Mississippi State University until his junior year before entering the military. He received his B. A. in Psychology from Chapman College in Orange, California. He received his masters in education from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years and was a B52 Squadron Commander at March Air Force Base in California and served with Strategic Air Command (SAC) in Omaha, Nebraska. After retirement from the military, he went into the oil field business and founded a company named Stratagraph N.E., Inc. in Marietta, Ohio. He also owned Pennzoil Lube Center in Niceville, Florida. He recently retired from Blackhawk Engineering as a pipe line inspector. He was an avid football fan of Mississippi State, enjoyed wood working, traveling and attended Belden Baptist Church. Services with military honors for Lt. Col. Fred Teer, Jr., USAF-Ret. will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Dale Hathorn officiating with special music by Jean Hathorn. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Sue Ann Edmondson Teer of Belden; three children, Walt Teer (Donna) of Marietta, Ohio, Robin Teer of Marietta, Ohio and Laura Sprungman of Chandler, Arizona; grandchildren, Devin Teer, Ryan Teer, Alicen Teer, Aubrey Teer, Ashley Sprungman, Tyler Sprungman, Sydney Sprungman; sister, Betty Broome of Batesville; brother, Phil Teer of Plantersville; mother-in-law, Charlene Edmondson and sister-in-law, Janet Kinsey both of Shannon; special niece, Kaitlyn Kinsey; special nephew, Austin Kinsey; other nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Hallie Teer; first wife and mother of his children, Mary Alice Teer. Pallbearers will be Barry Broome, Devin Teer, Ryan Teer, John Gaskins, Rex Haygood and Tony Roper. Honorary pallbearers will be members of MOAA (Military Officers Association of America). Visitation will be 12 - 3 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Memorials may be made to Belden Baptist Church, The Veterans Park or Tupelo Veterans Museum.
