Lt Col. William C. " Bill "

TUPELO " Lt. Col. William C. Bill Anglin, 89, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at the Leeper House of the Green Houses at Traceway. He was born May 22, 1918, in Pontotoc County to the late Eric Troy and Eliza Ann Cleveland Anglin. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and a Methodist. When World War II broke out, he joined the U.S. Air Force and reported to Camp Croft, S.C. He spent most of the war in the Far East, mostly China, working on the Burma Road. After being released from active duty, he was called again to serve during the Korean conflict. He spent much of that time in the Philippines. He also spent time in Japan, Jakarta and Singapore. After serving this time, he returned to Mississippi State and received a masters degree in administration. He was the principal at Cedar Hill School for two years. Again he returned to active duty and was assigned to the Air Force Academy for four years. He spent time in Kansas during the Cuban Crisis with the underground missile program. From there he went to Spain for four years at Tarrajon Air Force Base outside Madrid. He returned to the United States and later went to Fucat Air Force Base in Vietnam. After 32 years of active duty in the Air Force, he retired and worked with Charlie Trapp Realty as an appraiser of commercial and private real estate. He enjoyed reading, fishing and visiting places such as Portugal, Gibraltar, Japan, Hong Kong and Guam.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. Tim Prather and the Rev. Andy Ray officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Rubye Sue Easterling Anglin of Traceway Manor in Tupelo; one brother, Harvey Anglin of Tupelo; one sister, Patricia Stanford of Saltillo.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; a sister, Kathleen Crump; a nephew, Tommy Crump; a brother, Wilson Sam Anglin; and two sisters-in-law, Juanita Easterling Anglin and Frances Flippen Anglin.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Bobby Moore, Jimmy Moore, Richard Anglin, Joe Anglin, Stephen Crump, Paul Anglin, Roger Anglin, Ricky Stanford, Kenny Stanford and Reese Martin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
