Clyde Smith

November 21, 1945 — January 23, 2011

Eggville - Clyde Aaron Smith, 65, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 23, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center surrounded by his family. A Lee County native and lifelong resident of the Eggville Community, he was born November 21, 1945, to Clyde and Vera Robbins Smith. He married the love of his life, Margie Williams Smith on February 21, 1969. Before becoming disabled, he was a long hual truck driver for Kruger International, driving over one million miles accident free. He was an old car enthusiast and a loving husband and father. He was a 32 degree Mason of Lodge 294 in Saltillo and a member of Eggville Free Will Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Eggville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 42 years, Margie Williams Smith of Eggville; two sons, Brad Smith of Tupelo and Chad Smith and his special daughter-in-law, Laura Lynn Smith of Plantersville; two granddaughters who were his angels, Paige and Chelsea Smith of Tupelo; one sister, Betty Palmer (Robert) of Eggville; one brother, Earnest Smith (Jan) of Tupelo; his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, whom he loved like his own family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Faye Gattis; one brother, Weaver H. Smith; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Jettie Williams.

Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge 294.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
